The drive in: Mineral King Road is carved along the side of a canyon. It is a single lane, paved road with no artificial lighting. The views are magnificent and the drive is an experience kind of like the road to Hana, Hawaii. It warrants taking the time to drive slowly and safely. If you arrive in the nighttime, you will miss the splendor of the views. See directions.
Check-in time: is after 2 PM so we can have fresh spring water drawn for your hot tub. Check out time: is 11 AM.
Facilities: There is a shared heated bathroom in a separate building which has normal flush toilets and a good hot shower. The cabins are about 40 feet apart, but on different elevations so you don't feel too close. The property is 14 acres surrounded by nature; you can't see any neighbors.....it is remote. The 14 acres are rugged as Paradise is on a steep hillside, but there is a nice pathway to the river.
Solar Power: The property is powered by a state of the art solar electrical system (110 outlets in rooms). It is sometimes necessary (In the winter) to use a backup generator to charge the batteries. This is done form 11 am to 2 pm when guests are often visiting the park.
No children allowed: Due to the rustic, natural state of the property, it is not safe or suitable for children under 18.
Kitchen: There is a full compliment of kitchen utensils. Just bring your food and beverages. It's a good idea to bring lots of drinking water (gallon jugs.) You will be given one gallon for your stay. The refrigerator in Cabin 1 is almost full size, and the one in cabin 2 fits under the countertop. Bring ice in a cooler if you need it. Both have small freezers, but not large enough for ice bags. There is dish soap, coffee, sugar, diet sugar, salt and pepper there.
BBQ: There are brand new large covered BBQ's for the 2003 season. Bring your own briquettes and BBQ starter. There are BBQ forks and spatulas in the cabins.
Hike: The property is an isolated 14 acre canyon, and the guests will be the only people on the property or near the river. The hike has handrails, but is vigorous, so dress in appropriate hiking gear. It is about 10 minutes to the pools at the bottom of the East Fork of the Kaweah River. Take a camera! Use at your own risk!
Hot Tub: The water is changed fresh for each visitor with water from a mountain spring. The tubs are made from redwood which gives the water a kind of natural look ; we don't put a lot of chemicals in (other than cleaning the tub). It takes about 3-4 hours to heat the water initially.
CD Player: There is a good Bose type CD player and a few CD's.

Weather: We are at about 3000 feet elevation. Three Rivers is about 1000 feet, and the General Sherman tree about 6000 feet. It's considerably cooler than in the valley in the summer, but can get to 90 in the day in midsummer. At night it cools off unless it's a really bad heat wave. In the winter, it can get a light dusting of snow, but it doesn't stay, so we are open all year. Sitting outside in the screened in porch listening to the rain on the metal roof (porch only!) is special!
